Spicy wontons in chili oil were ok. 5,5 SGD for 8 peaces. Kitchen seems clean and the staff seem to be making those dumplings by hand, one by one. Nevertheless, I think I saw them using frozen wontons, even though they are made locally.

Some of the best hawker food out there, easily the best at Maxwell. Loved the fried dumpling, as well as the chili oil dumplings. Great Xiao long Bao as well. Great service with a smile. We loved it so much we went back for seconds. Yay!

Really liked the hand made dumplings, you can see them doing it while waiting for the order. It wasn't too strong the flavor of the filling, and the skin was very thin. The chili sauce was not too spicy, with a tangy flavor. Very very nice.10 pieces for 6,5$

This is one of the better stalls that offer dumplings in chinatown. Especially the wantons, the skin is silky soft, pork filling bursting with flavours though tiny amount of meat. Their noodle is very good too, the scallion oil noodle is simple in appearance but very addictive. The noodle is springy, chewy with hint of scallion fragrance and taste in every bite. The soup that comes with wanton is decent too, mellow and savoury giving a good balance to the noodle and wantons. The fried rice with pork chop is good too, fragrant rice grains and tender well marinated pork chop. Overall, good place for dumplings, noodle, fried rice and pork chop.

Overall, my impression of Jiang Nan Wei Dao at Maxwell is positive. As a couple from China, we found that there was a lot of variety to try, from noodles to rice. We particularly enjoyed the chilli oil, which added a delicious taste to our noodles. Although the prices were a bit expensive, we felt that the quality of the food justified the cost.We ordered the Red Oil Dumpling Noodles (no11) and Pork Chop noodles (no10) and found the sauce to be mildly spiced but with a numbing sensation on our tongues, which we think may have been due to the chili oil. Despite this, we would still recommend this dish. It's important to note that the restaurant operates from 12 pm but takes a break between 3pm to 5pm before closing again at 8pm. We recommend coming before the crunch time as the queue can be quite long. Overall, we would definitely come back again. Do check out their Facebook page for their updates on the opening or closing day.
