A chok that is choked full of ingredients! We ordered the one with preserved egg, fish belly, fish slices and chicken! Only at $4! The porridge is thick and flavourful. Totally yummy and filling!
Ordered chicken porridge 4 times. 3 out of the 4 times i was served with fish porridge. But If they do manage to get the right item, food is actually not bad.
Very decent fish porridge served by 2 elderlies, just the kind that I liked - cooked very through 👍🏻⏰ served within a minute of ordering, hence the lack of queue - very efficient! At $4, it was a decent price point for the food centre considering it’s a very touristy hawker. 🐟 That said, the sliced fish were very small, making it look like the portion of fish very minimal. I do like the addition of ginger to their porridge though 🫚Will consider returning in future whenever I’m craving for a hearty bowl of porridge.
Had tried Zhen Zhen porridge’s chicken porridge (S$4 for small) and sliced fish porridge (S$4 for small) and my favourite is their signature chicken porridge.Chicken here is unlike most porridge shops which uses shredded boiled chicken breast. Zhen Zhen porridge uses diced chicken pieces and cooked in a manner which still retains the crunchiness and tenderness.Portion of their small at S$4 is huge! Also they are very generous with the diced chicken pieces.
Been here enough times to see the price increase twice, yet still remains my immediate go-to porridge stall when in the city. After the price hikes, it still costs 4.50 for chicken porridge add fish and egg, which is honestly the best value for money porridge out there. Ginger, spring onions, shallots, salted fish bits all scattered generously throughout all porridge bowls too, with soy sauce and sesame oil available in whatever amounts you wish. This is on top of the amazing consistency and tastiness of the porridge throughout. The owner is really friendly and also efficient too. Truly one of the best porridge stores out there and deserving of it's accolades.
